Dear Harpo,

I hope that you are doing a great deal of thinking about this coming fall.

The success or failure of this team will depend upon the leadership that you give it. We expect you to be a real living example of what a real football player is like. If you are the first one on the field and the last one to leave it, I'm sure we will have a successful season.

Think of it, we have an opportunity to have four years of undefeated play on the gridiron. It's in your hands and heart.

Each and every one of our opponents will play their best possible game against us. WE MUST BE READY.

Remember football is a contest of who is going to quit first! Since 1947 Lafayette has never Quit.
